These earrings are inspired from a life-size flute of the Calima-Malagana region of Colombia, decorated with double spirals arranged in registers. The flute was originally carved from two bones, probably human, (not these earrings, luckily!) and then covered in two sections with thin gold sheets, on which the figures were embossed.
