Children’s Education

LUMA GOLD donates 5% of each sale to the Marina Orth Foundation, supporting a 21st Century education for children in Colombia.

Educating for the Future
The mission of the Marina Orth Foundation is to provide a superior, modern education model for children in Colombia, enabling them to complete globally and make a positive contribution to the world.

The Foundation - a 501c3 in the U.S. and a non-profit Fundacion Marina Orth in Colombia - provides intensive education in English, information technology, and leadership skills to children of limited means in Colombia. It supports five “One Laptop Per Child” schools in Colombia, a program that provides each primary student with his or her own laptop. These schools have become international models of how poor communities can advance with targeted assistance.

Why LUMA GOLD Loves the Maureen Orth Foundation
“I met Maureen Orth, a year ago and she was introduced to me as the founder-builder of three bilingual public schools in the mountains of Antioquia, Colombia. There, each child has a laptop and the towns are all wireless! I was so impressed that the next day I Googled her, and my admiration has not stopped growing since…

Besides being a mom, an award winning journalist, a best selling author, and the founder of two non-profit organizations, Maureen’s love for our country, Colombia, is so inspiring that I think it makes her the very best of all philanthropists.”
—Luz Maria Sampedro, Founder of LUMA GOLD

As Maureen herself puts it, what the Marina Orth Foundation does “…has nothing to do with charity, but everything to do with the development of these great kids to help not only themselves but also their country’s progress”.

We are so happy to be able to donate 5% of LUMA GOLD sales directly to the Marina Orth Foundation, supporting this wonderful project and the education of our children in Colombia.
